The Illinois Health Care Association (IHCA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1950 and based in Springfield, Illinois. As the oldest and largest association for the long-term care sector in the state, IHCA advocates for approximately 450–500 licensed and certified facilities, including skilled nursing, assisted living, and developmental disability centers. The organization serves as a unified voice for its members, which range from small owner-operated facilities to large national chains. IHCA focuses on regulatory compliance, workforce development, and policy advocacy, addressing key challenges such as staffing shortages and funding gaps. The association provides various services, including advocacy in legislative matters, educational resources, crisis support, and networking opportunities through events like the Annual Convention & Expo. In September 2024, IHCA announced a merger with the Health Care Council of Illinois to enhance its advocacy efforts for nursing home and assisted living residents.
